Music Director

David Möschler is an award-winning San Francisco Bay Area-based musical director. He has music-directed over 125 musical theater and opera productions. Recent regional theater productions include musical direction for Berkeley Repertory Theatre, American Conservatory Theatre, Guthrie Theater, Shotgun Players, West Edge Opera, Ray of Light Theatre, Mountain Play, Lamplighters Music Theatre, SF Playhouse, San Jose Repertory Theatre, and Center REPertory Theatre among many others, as well serving on the conducting staff of Cape Cod’s College Light Opera Company since 2005.

In addition to his work in music direction, David is active as a music supervisor, musician contractor, accompanist, keyboardist, vocal director. Whether conducting an operetta or leading the band in a new rock musical, he conducts from the podium or the bandstand; whatever the piece calls for.

He loves working as a vocal coach and helping prepare singers for auditions, performances, and learning repertoire of all kinds. Deeply passionate about the work of Stephen Sondheim, David has music-directed over twenty-five separate productions of his musicals, and hopes to complete the canon in his lifetime!

An active multi-instrumentalist, he’s played in pit orchestras on piano, synthesizer, accordion, double bass, electric bass, guitar, banjo, tuba, bodhran, and percussion. He recently made his Off-Broadway debut playing accordion for Stephen Schwartz in the revival of The Baker’s Wife at J2 Spotlight Theater.
